YBT’s Travel Bucket List

Writing this was actually one of my goals for 2018. (Publishing this has also helps with my other goal of publishing at least one blog post a week). It’ll now form one of You Bloody Tourist’s FIVE Projects. This ‘travel bucket list’ is intended to never be complete and always be extended. Every time I have another thought, crazy idea or inspiration, I’ll add it to this list. This isn’t about simply crossing things off a list, it’s about turning a bunch of half-thought out goals into realities and keeping a record of having done so. It might even inspire someone to do the same.

Planning this list the way I am means it should be completely nonrestrictive. After all, that’s what I hate about most bucket lists – the rigidity. The idea that someone knows what they want and that doesn’t change. If I’d have written a bucket list 5 years ago, it wouldn’t have most of the things I’ve actually done on it. But alas, as a lover of lists, I’ve got to give it a go. In no particular order…

My Travel Bucket List:

  26. Wander the waterways in Venice, ITA
  27. Visit the Plitvic Lakes National Park, CRO
  28. Hike on a glacier (Fox Glacier, NZ)

I guess that’s not a bad place to start. I think it’s a good mix of locations, activities and adventures. I’ve kept the very general things (visit every country, etc.) off the list for now – just assume that’s something I would love to achieve. I’ve also tried to keep this as travel-focused as possible, so goals such as learn a language, get diving qualified, etc. do not feature on here either.

Like I say, this list is always going to be evolving – there will be things I lose any desire to do and other things that I become obsessed with. There will also be hundreds of destinations, activities and adventures that don’t/won’t feature on this list at all – that doesn’t make them any less awesome.

This is a list that I expect to grow and that I never (in my lifetime) expect to complete. But, I’ll make sure I have some damn fun trying. It’s time to climb the goddamn mountain.

One Comment on “YBT’s Travel Bucket List

  1. Honestly I love your list. The combination of long distance hiking/biking is wicked – and while I’ve been lucky enough to do some of the things on your list, the rest is sweet inspiration! Something to add to your list that I highly recommend to get deep into the culture: cycle the length of Vietnam from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh.
